We chatted with Tougieda Albertyn and her family during their Eid Celebrations.
What do you do at The Farm Film Productions?
I am in accounts and my key role is our payroll. In the company I am known as the IRP5 contact. I do have other accounts responsibilities as well e.g. petty cash, capturing, filing and dealing with suppliers e.c.t.
What are you celebrating today?
Today we are celebrating our Eid which is the conclusion of our fasting period. It’s a day spent with family and friends with some nice food and desserts. Muslims are also encouraged on this day to forgive and forget any differences with others or animosities that may have occurred during the year.
Why does everyone get dressed up for this occasion?
Typically, practising Muslims wake up early in the morning always before sunrise offer Salatul Fajr (the pre-sunrise prayer), and in keeping with the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad clean their teeth with a toothbrush, take a shower before prayers, put on new clothes (or the best available), and apply perfume as it is a day of celebration.
What is your favourite food to make?
My favourite dish is called Briyani. It is a Cape Malay dish consisting of rice, meat, potatoes and some nice spices. I have yet to master the art of cooking this dish. Some of the favourites to have on this day are Briyani, Curry, Leg Of Lamb and also Peppermint Crisp Tart.
Why is family important to you?
Family is important to me as I come from a home where my parents divorced, and I wanted my kids to have both parents around. I only realised as an adult how much my mother went through by raising us on her own. When my gran passed a few years ago it divided our family and that just broke my heart. I know now that she was the glue that kept this family together. Our family gatherings these days are just not the same without her.
Tell us your best memory so far from working at The Farm?
I do not have a best memory, but rather a few. Our director often gets dressed up in the props and costumes from the film shoots and walks around the office and we just all have a good laugh. I like the atmosphere at The Farm, and being part of the Farm Family. I like the fact that we can all laugh and have fun together whilst at the same time work hard to deliver the best product at the end of the day.
Tell us about your family?
My husband and I have three beautiful children, two girls and a boy. They each have their own unique personality that we just adore. My oldest Kawthar (my husband’s apple of the eye) she has this very dry sense of humour that we love. My middle daughter Layla is just a drama queen and my son Amaan well he is just very entertaining.
Happy Eid to the Albertyn family from everyone at The Farm Film Productions.
